Cranberry Pumpkin Salt Scrub

This fragrant Salt Scrub is packed with skin loving ingredients that can help to soften and moisturize your skin.  Pumpkin Seed Oil contains high levels of zinc, and vitamins A, C, E, and K.  Cranberry Seed Oil is rich in antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. All of this natural goodness can help to improve your skin's condition while mineral rich Bolivian Pink Salt provides exfoliation and stimulates circulation.  This simple scrub is quick and easy to make, and a pleasure to use.  We've added Polysorbate 20 to this recipe to make it rinsable, and Cranberry Fragrance Oil to enhance the scrub's aroma. For an all natural scrub, simply leave out these two ingredients and double the amount of Cranberry Seed Oil and Pumpkin Seed Oil.

 Cranberry Pumpkin Salt Scrub
Makes about 4 Ounces

Pumpkin_cranberry_scrub_5_2 Ingredients
1/2 cup Bolivian Pink Salt, Fine
1/2 ounce Pumpkin Seed Oil
1/2 ounce Cranberry Seed Oil
1/2 teaspoon Cranberry Fruit Fiber
1/2 teaspoon Cranberry Fruit Seeds
1 ounce Polysorbate 20
1/2 teaspoon Cranberry Fragrance Oil

Directions
In a small mixing bowl, combine the Pumpkin Seed Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil, Polysorbate 20, and Cranberry Fragrance Oil.  Stir the liquids well to make sure they are fully combined.  Next, add the Bolivian Pink Salt and stir again, making sure to break up any clumps in the salt.  Add the Cranberry Fruit Fiber and Cranberry Fruit Seeds and mix well.  A natural or synthetic preservative may be added to this recipe at your own discretion.  For information on preservatives, please visit our informational library.

Packaging & Usage
Spoon the mixture into a PET plastic Jar.  Make sure that the top of the jar and the lid are totally free from oil before you cap the jar.  Any oil on the lid or the top of the jar can cause the scrub to leak.  In a sealed container, this scrub should last several months, but after it is opened it can easily become contaminated during use.  Keeping the jar away from water, and using clean utensils to scoop out the scrub will help to keep it from becoming contaminated.  You can also package the scrub in single serving containers so that they will be used up completely after they opened.

There are many scrubbing techniques out there, but this is one I am particularly fond of.  Step into the shower and before turning the water on, scrub your body all over! (Of course, avoiding very sensitive areas or broken skin.)  When you are thoroughly scrubbed, turn the shower on and rinse.  When the shower is over, make sure to moisturize your skin with a body oil, cream, or lotion.

To Make an All Natural Version
Simply double the amount of oils, and leave out the Polysorbate 20 and Fragrance Oil.  An Essential Oil can be added or you canleave the scrub unscented.

Now you can purchase all the ingredients and packaging you'll need to create around our Cranberry Pumpkin Salt Scrub in our Body Care Craft Kit for just $20.00! Body Care Craft Kits or finished cookies make excellent, affordable holiday gifts.

Lavender Lover's Body Polish

For those who love the classic aroma of Lavender, this salt scrub should send them into euphoric bliss. This fragrant Body Polish is made with fine grain Icelandic Geothermal Brine to provide gentle buffing and exfoliation to the skin. The addition of all natural Castile Shower Gel helps the moisturizing scrub rinse away easily, leaving behind beautifully polished skin.

Scrub_closeLavender Lover's Body Polish
Makes about 6 ounces

Ingredients
3 ounces Avocado Oil
1 ounce Aloe Castile Shower Gel Base
1/2 cup Icelandic Geothermal Brine
1 tablespoon Lavender Buds Powder
1 teaspoon Lavender, Bulgaria Essential Oil

Lavender_set_1_2 Directions
In a small bowl or cup, mix the Avocado Oil, Aloe Castile Shower Gel Base, and Lavender Essential Oil together. Next, add the Icelandic Geothermal Brine and Lavender Buds Powder. Stir the mixture well, making sure to break apart any clumps of salt. After the mixture is thoroughly combined it can be spooned into jars.

Usage and Packaging
Body Polishes are essentially the same as a classic Body Scrub.   The difference between the two is that Body Polishes use a finer grain exfoliant, making the scrub gentler.  Body Polishes can be used all over the body, but are still too harsh for most people's faces. To create a facial scrub you'll need to use an even gentler exfoliant such as Baking Soda, Milk Powder, or Oatmeal.

Lavender Lover's Body Polish looks adorable in 2 oz. Flat PET Jars with White Lids.  If you are giving the Body Polish as a gift, try tying it up with a piece of purple ribbon and fresh sprig of lavender.

Lemongrass Salt Scrub

Lemongrass_scrub_1_2

Being the last month of summer, August's Scrub of the Month is made with the sunny aroma of Lemongrass and cheerfully colored Yellow Illite Clay. This slushy summer time scrub is packed with moisturizing oils and butters including Babassu Oil, Mango Butter, and Poppy Seed Oil.

Lemongrass Salt Scrub
Makes about 8 ounces of scrub

Ingredients
1 cup Fine or Medium Grain Dead Sea Salt
1/2 ounce Mango Butter
1/2 ounce Babassu Oil
1 ounce Poppy Seed Oil
2 teaspoons Yellow Illite Clay
10 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
10 drops Vanilla Absolute (Optional - This helps to soften the strong aroma of Lemongrass Essential Oil. You can also use a more economic synthetic Vanilla Fragrance Oil.)

Directions
Gently warm the Mango Butter and Babassu Oils until they are completely melted.  In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and oil with the Poppy Seed Oil and the Dead Sea Salt.  Stir well, and then add the Yellow Illite Clay and Essential Oils.  Stir the mixture well, making sure to fully disperse the Essential Oils and Clay.  Add a preservative if you'd like before spooning the mixture into jars.

Packaging and Usage
I prefer to package this scrub in PET Plastic Jars. These crystal clear jars show off the product well and are very durable.

During the summer, Monoi De Tahiti remains in a liquid state as long as the weather remains warm and sunny. This makes July the perfect month to feature Monoi De Tahiti in a Scrub of The Month recipe.  The subtle aroma of Tiare has been blended with Tangerine, and Ylang Ylang Essential Oils, and Ginger Lily CO2 Extract.  The warm, sunny aroma of this scrub is perfect for a summer spa session or a salt glow massage.

Super Scrub Hand Wash

The men in my life tend to come home from work with hands so dirty they don't just defy belief, they defy soap!  Wash as they may, sometimes dirt, grease, paint, and other tenacious substances require more than a gentle hand washing to be eliminated.  Chock full of exfoliating Walnut Shell Powder and Green Illite Clay, this all natural Castille based liquid soap scrub is sure to help even the grubbiest hands get clean.Sink_2

Super Scrub Hand Wash

Ingredients
Aloe Castille Shower Gel Base - 2 Ounces
Liquid Castille Soap Base - 2 Ounces
Green Illite Clay - 2 Tablespoons
Walnut Shell Powder, Fine - 2 Tablespoons
Orange Essential Oil - 1/2 teaspoon or 3 ml
Peppermint Essential Oil - 1/2 teaspoon or 3 ml
1 - 2 Teaspoons of Distilled Water

Instructions
Add 2 Tablespoons of Green Illite Clay to a small bowl.  Slowly add the water to the clay, mixing constantly.  After the water is evenly distributed in the clay, slowly add the Liquid Castille Soap Base, mixing constantly.  When the clay has been fully dispersed (without any clumps) add the Aloe Castille Shower Gel Base. Next, add the Walnut Shell Powder and the Essential Oils.  Mix well, then carefully pour the mixture into a 4 ounce bottle with either a pump or a disc cap.

Packaging & Usage
I packaged this recipe in a 4 ounce PET Boston Round Bottle with a Black Pump.  The pump does stick now and then, but overall the mixture flows through the pump easily.  You could also try packaging this soap scrub in a PET or HDPE Bottle with a Snap or Disc Cap.  To use, simply massage a small amount onto wet hands before rinsing away.  The scrub should help to release tenacious dirt and grime while leaving the hands feeling clean and refreshed.

Patchouli Cupcake Body Polish

Though the name of this month's scrub doesn't sound very unisex, the mellow aroma can actually be quite enjoyable to both men and women.  Vanilla and Patchouli aren't the most common pair, but if you ask me they compliment each other quite well.  To make this scrub feel especially soft and mellow we've used a Fine Dead Sea Salt and Yellow Sandalwood Powder as exfoliants.  This fine salt is perfect for body polishes and glow massages.  The fine grains exfoliate without feeling harsh or scratchy.  Sandalwood Powder gives this scrub an earthy color and an extra touch of woody scent.

Kiwi Salt Scrub

Clear blue skies have been making more regular appearances lately in my small corner of the world.  Since this has started I've often found myself day dreaming of the sunnier days to come and all the sweetness that will come with them.  While I was working on this month's scrub, I found that I was not the only one at FromNatureWithLove.com with summer sweetness on my mind.  Sue from our order fulfillment department has been craving ripe summer fruit lately.  In particular, Kiwis have been on her mind.  While I was carousing the warehouse for inspiration, Sue suggested a Kiwi theme.  Brilliant!  The Kiwi Salt Scrub is made with aromatic Organic Virgin Coconut Cream Oil, skin loving Kiwi Seed Oil, Sunflower Oil, Dead Sea Salt, naturally green Parsley Powder, and a sprinkle of real Dried Kiwi Fruit Seeds.

Kiwi_salt_scrub_ls

Organic Virgin Coconut Cream Oil is one of those ingredients that is universally enjoyed.  It's delicicious aroma tends to induce love at first sniff.  What keeps us coming back for more is its amazing ability to moisturize the skin without causing greasiness.  Organic Virgin Coconut Cream Oil can even act as an astringent, making it an ideal choice for oily and combination skin types.  Kiwi Seed Oil may be less well known, but its properties speak for themselves.  Like most Fruit Seed Oils, Kiwi Seed Oil is loaded with antioxidants and essential fatty acids.  In fact, Kiwi Seed Oil contains over 60% alpha linolenic acid, a component that helps skin and hair retain essential moisture, even in drying conditions.  These two powerhouse oils have been blended with High Oleic Sunflower Oil for its light, penetrating texture.  Together, these three oils create a moisturizing, nourishing, and non-greasy base for the Kiwi Salt Scrub.

Makes about 4 ounces

Ingredients
1/2 cup Dead Sea Salt, Fine
1 Teaspoon Parsley Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Kiwi Fruit Seeds
1 Tablespoon Organic Virgin Coconut Cream Oil
1 Tablespoon Kiwi Seed Oil
2 Tablespoons High Oleic Sunflower Oil
1/8 Teaspoon Grapefruit Seed Extract
1/8 Teaspoon Kiwi Fragrance Oil (optional)

Instructions
Gently warm the Organic Virgin Coconut Cream Oil until fully melted.  Add 1 tablespoon of the melted oil to a small mixing bowl followed by the High Oleic Sunflower and Kiwi Seed Oils.  Next, mix in 1/8 teaspoon of Grapefruit Seed Extract.  Mix the oils together than add 1/2 cup of Fine Dead Sea Salt, 1/2 teaspoon of Kiwi Fruit Seeds, and 1 teaspoon of Parsley Powder.  Stir the mixture well, making sure to disperse the Parlsey Powder completely.  The scrub will have a nice subtle coconut aroma thanks to the Organic Virgin Coconut Oil.  If you prefer a more potent aroma, add 1/8 teaspoon of Kiwi Fragrance Oil.

Usage and Packaging
I prefer to package this scrub in PET Plastic Jars.  These crystal clear jars show off the product well and are very durable.

Kyoto Scrub

Kyoto_scrubThis month's scrub has been inspired by the signature principles of Japanese skin care; simplicity, harmony, and the use of natural herbs and grains.  This gentle facial scrub is traditionally preceded by the use of Camellia Seed Oil as a pre-scrub cleanser.  Camellia Seed Oil is applied to the face using a cotton ball or soft cloth, then wiped away.  This scrub can also be followed by a fresh toner made of cooled Green Tea.  You can also create your own Green Tea Toner by combining one of our Organic Hydrosols with our water soluble Green Tea Extract.

Kyoto Scrub

Ingredients
2 Tablespoon Ginseng Powder
3 Tablesspoons Adzuki Bean Powder
3 Tablespoons Rice Powder, Fine

Directions

This scrub is very easy to make.  Simply mix the ingredients in a small bowl, then pour them into a jar or powder sifter.  When you are ready to use the scrub, just combine a teaspoon of the dry mixture with a little water.  Gently massage the paste onto your face and rinse away.

Chocolate Truffle Scrub

What's more classically Valentine's Day than a box full of chocolates?  When I was a kid I had the awful habit of breaking open each and every candy before I ate it.  I was fond of surprises, but not when they involved mystery food.  I turned my nose up at strawberry nougat, coconut, and marshmallow.  These days I am far less picky about my chocolates.  In fact, I'll eat just about any mysterious bonbon that comes my way.  My sense of culinary adventure has grown considerably over the years.  With it, my appreciation of all things chocolate.Chocolate_truffle_scrub_2_2

The Chocolate Truffle Sugar Scrub
This scrub makes about two 4 ounce jars.

Ingredients
3/4 cup Demerara Sugar
2 ounces Hazelnut Oil
1 ounce Castor Oil
1/2 ounce Cocoa Butter
1/2 teaspoon Cocoa Powder (unsweetened)
1 teaspoon Vitamin E (T-50)
1/4 teaspoon Grapefruit Seed Extract

Directions
Gently melt the Cocoa Butter in a double boiler or in very short bursts in the microwave.  Be careful not to overheat your butter.  Meanwhile, pour the Demerara Sugar into a mixing bowl.  Stir in Hazelnut Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, and Grapefruit Seed Extract.  Add Cocoa Powder and mix well.  Now add you final ingredient, the melted Cocoa Butter.  Stir the mixture well to make sure that the butter is distributed evenly.

Chocolate_truffle_scrub_3Fragrance
This scrub will have a slight natural aroma of Cocoa Butter while you are preparing it.  However, this aroma will dissipate once the mixture has cooled.  If you prefer a scented scrub you may add a 1 teaspoon of synthetic Fragrance Oil such as Dark Chocolate Supreme or Raspberry Truffles.  Another option is to add several drops of Bourbon Vanilla Absolute or Vanilla Oleoresin.  Although they are not chocolate, these natural Vanilla aromas would compliment this scrub nicely.

Goddess Salt Scrub

Goddess_scrub_1_2

I invented this scrub when a friend of mine asked for a classic salt scrub that would be especially luxurious, feminine, but not childish.  The Bolivian Pink Salt looks gorgeous in a salt scrub.  Cherry Kernel and Mango Oil give this scrub a highly moisturizing, yet light base.  Scented with Rose and Sandalwood, this recipe is exquisitely feminine.  Needless to say, my friend found the finished product to be as charming as I did.  After all, it is fit for a goddess!

Goddess_scrub_2 Goddess Salt Scrub
1/2 cup Bolivian Pink Salt, Fine
1 ounce Cherry Kernel Oil
1 ounce Mango Oil
30 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil *
15 drops Rose Otto Essential Oil *

* For a more economic version of this scrub, the essential oils can be substituted with 3/4 teaspoon of Sandalwood Fragrance Oil and 1/4 teaspoon of Red Rose Fragrance Oil.
