Shortly after we launched our Pet Care Section on From Nature With Love we began work on a pair of pet themed Kits. For me, pet care is one of the more daunting DIY subjects. I love my little furry friends, and I want to be sure that everything I make for them is safe. After reading several books on natural and DIY pet care I came up with recipes for our two newest Kits. If you'd like to learn more about pet care too, check out one of my favorite books on the subject, Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals by Kristen Leigh Bell, and Herbal Cat Care and Herbal Dog Care by Randy Kidd.
I don't know about you, but giving a cat a bath is the sort of thing that only goes on in my nightmares. I adore my feline companions, but I have a healthy respect for their aversion to water. Though I usually leave grooming in their capable paws, my long-haired ragdoll has an extremely soft, fluffy coat that requires regular brushing. This can sometimes be a battle, so I created a special aromatherapy blend of hydrosols to help him relax during his beauty treatments. This kit contains everything you need to create your own batch of calming herbal coat spray, and a sweet little heart-shaped brush to help groom your kitty.
Most dogs love going for walks, and the last thing on their mind would be hazardous road conditions like heat, salt, and noxious automobile residues. Though they might not realize it, their sensitive paws are exposed to these and other dangers on a regular basis, which can result in some very sore feet. After your best friend comes home from his walk, try wiping down his paws with a little warm water and pet-safe soap. After that, your doggy will love getting a gentle massage with some herbal ointment. This kit makes two two-ounce batches of moisturizing Paw Pad Balm, fortified with soothing Essential Oils.
