This information is very useful and the best I've found yet espeially with regard to using oxides in melt and pour soaps, the best guide available at present,in my opinion.

Thank you,
Sehkmet

I'm glad that you enjoyed this article. Have you made some Melt & Pour Soaps lately? If so, I would love to see pictures!

Hi,
One of my lotion bases, I would like to change the fragrance to chocolate. Because of this, I would like to make the color a little tannish. Is it ok to use food coloring from the grocery store? Thanks

In a pinch, Food Dyes can be used to add color to skin care products. However, Dyes and Color Additives that have been formulated specifically for skin care are often superior to plain food dyes. They are often concentrated at different proportions, and can sometimes be less prone to fading or altering color.

Can oats or milk be added?

Hi Jody.  You can certainly add oats or milk to Melt Pour Soaps.  Whole oats, rolled oats, oatmeal, or oat flour are all great in soap.  If youd like to add milk, try using Milk Powers.  Both Milk Powders and any powered oats should be mixed with a little carrier oil or warm water before being added to the melted soap.  You can add about 2 tablespoons of oats or milk powder to 1 pound of Melt Pour soap.
